HUGME Shower Filter uses KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) media and vitamin C to reduce chlorine and heavy metals from municipal shower water. Shower water quality affects skin and hair condition on every wash — the HUGME filter addresses the contaminants that standard municipal water treatment leaves in shower supply. Designed and manufactured in Korea, sourced through DEMORE.
Municipal water is treated with chlorine for pathogen control — this is both necessary and effective for drinking water safety. But chlorine continues to be present in shower water at the point of use, where it is absorbed through skin and inhaled as vapour during hot showers. Heavy metal traces from distribution pipework — copper, lead, and others — also arrive at the shower head. None of this is considered unsafe at the concentrations municipal treatment allows, but reducing these substances from shower water has measurable effects on skin and hair condition.
HUGME Shower Filter uses KDF media — a copper-zinc granule that removes chlorine and heavy metals through a redox reaction — combined with vitamin C, which directly neutralises residual chlorine through chemical reduction. The combination addresses the two main shower water quality concerns in a single replaceable cartridge.

KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) media is a copper-zinc granule that removes dissolved chlorine and heavy metals from water through a redox (oxidation-reduction) reaction. The copper and zinc donate electrons to oxidise chlorine and heavy metal ions, precipitating them out of the water stream. KDF is effective across the temperature range of shower water — including hot shower temperatures where carbon block filters begin to lose effectiveness.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a direct chemical reducer of chlorine: one molecule of ascorbic acid neutralises one molecule of chlorine. The vitamin C component in the HUGME filter addresses any residual chlorine that passes through the KDF stage, and it is particularly effective at the higher temperatures of hot showers where KDF's efficiency is lower.

Two-stage filtration targeting chlorine and heavy metals. Both mechanisms are established, well-understood water treatment approaches.
KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) copper-zinc granules — the standard media for point-of-use shower water filtration. Effective across hot and cold shower temperatures.
Ascorbic acid provides direct chemical chlorine neutralisation as a second-stage complement to KDF. Particularly effective at hot shower temperatures.
Fits standard shower arm thread connections without tools — direct installation or with showerhead mounting. Replacement cartridge format keeps ongoing cost low.
Replaceable cartridge extends product life — the filter housing stays in place; only the cartridge is replaced at the end of its service life.
Korean design and manufacture. The hugme-filter is one of the exceptions in the EL range with Korea manufacture rather than China. DEMORE sources for international water quality retail.
